CREW is a NGO working in the slums and squatter colonies of Kolkata, Patna (Bihar) and also in Sunderbans since 1988 for the under privileged children. Education, Protection, Health and Nutrition are the four major areas of intervention of CREW to provide a quality life to the deprived urban and rural population. Today CREW reaches out to more than 4500 children and adolescents and more than 500 women through its initiatives.

Keeping in view the Right to Education Act it has been found that retention of children in schools is a big challenge. In order to address this challenge CREW is running supportive coaching centers to prepare the children academically through Bride Course methodology by trained community teachers in Kolkata and Patna.

CREW also works for empowering women and is continuously working on making them self dependent, for better livelihood in their respective fields through various vocational courses and awareness programs . With little or no education, the vocational course has opened a new horizon that has helped them to dream of a better future and has provided voice to the voiceless. The courses and awareness help them gain confidence, contribute to the family income, and act as a role model to the society.

Apart from this, another major intervention of CREW is bridging the gap of E-knowledge between the deprived adolescents and the everyday developing technologies. We at CREW aim to make the youth receive at least basic computer knowledge and to face the world of competition and to create employable adolescent within school programme so that the children can opt for respectable jobs.

Health and awareness is also an important part of CREW. We hold regular health camps at different slums of Kolkata and Sunderbans. Registered government doctors attend the patients of the community and free medicines are distributed. Till date CREW has reached out to more than 2000 patients through these camps.
